To Register for Events: 734-324-0901 or [email protected] WHO IS THE SPIRIT? When we Christians talk about God we often speak of Jesus or God the Creator. Spiritual writers tell us that the Holy Spirit is the forgotten God especially among Catholic Christians in the West. In this session, we will reflect upon who the Holy Spirit is, what we mean by the Spirit and where we encounter the Spirit. We hope that you will be able to join us for these sessions. LOVE AND DISCIPLESHIP AS GROUNDING US IN THE SPIRIT Scriptural accounts of the coming of the Spirit to Jesus and to his disciples describe strong winds, audible voices, tongues of fire and the gift of speaking in tongues that empowered people to immediately go out with a passion for the faith. Has this been our experience? How do we “receive the Spirit” and tap into her energy? Explore the meaning of discipleship and the ways that the Spirit invites and collaborates with us to respond to the needs of our increasingly complex world. SCRIPTURAL INVITATIONS OF LENT In this Lenten series, we will reflect on Lectionary readings for the upcoming Lenten Sunday. The readings for this holy season invite us, rattle us, pull us to back into stories from which our faith has been shaped, has grown, and may yet have space to expand out into an ever-demanding world. The reflection will be followed by a simple meal of soup, bread and table conversation. |
