As conscience and consolation of Israel, the Old Testament Prophets continue to call us to life in God. In this occasional series, we will explore the lives and challenges of these witnesses, and consider their vision and invitations to us as men and women of faith today. Please bring a bible. GIFTS OF LENT: Time and Space, Set Apart Contemporary authors as well as Biblical writers speak of the gifts of time and space. These gifts come to each of us. What might be our response during the days of Lent 2012? SPIRITUALITY & SOUP: The Invitations of Lent Through the Scriptures for the upcoming Sunday, we will consider Lent and its many invitations to conversion and discipleship. Join us for a half-hour reflection, followed by soup and bread. WOMEN’S BOOK DISCUSSION: An Altar in the World “From simple practices such as walking, working, and getting lost, to deep meditations on topics like prayer and pronouncing blessings, Taylor reveals concrete ways to discover the sacred in the small things we do and see” (book jacket, hardcover edition). We will talk together about the first 6 chapters on April 19, and the last 6 on April 26. Please read these chapters ahead of time. Discussion questions will be provided when you register. The book is also available in paperback and e-book versions. Barbara Brown Taylor is an Episcopal priest.
